This beautiful lake is surrounded by stunning breathtaking views of the numerous alpine mountains on the borders of Switzerland and Italy. With its approximate altitude of 1700m, Monte Generoso is the highest peak overlooking Lake Lugano.

A cog railway connects Capolago, on the shores of the lake to the panoramic peak. Two mountainside cable car routes climb the emblematic mountains of Lugano: Monte San Salvatore – from there, a high-altitude path leads you to the village of Carona and up to Morcote and Monte Brè.
In addition, the cable car takes you to the sunny town of Serpiano, from which you can easily access the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Monte San Giorgio. There you will discover the mountain vegetation, a vivid green, with numerous rare plants is one of the most important fossil discovery places of an ancient subtropical sea.

A cruise on the lake will allow you to discover the richness of the region from the water perspective.
Morcote, with its particular hotels and the Church of Santa Maria del Sasso, an important Renaissance building and its belfry in late Romanesque style, boasts a wonderful location and an ideal spot to plan a small intimate wedding for those with romantic ideas.
You will also discover Gandria, which is the embodiment of a small fishing village on the shores of Lake Lugano.

Around the lake numerous parks invite you to take leisurely walks – or example, the Scherrer Park in Morcote, which combines sculptures and architecture of numerous countries.
There are also areas with plantations of Cedars, Mexican Pines, Camphor, Eucalyptus, Azaleas, Palm Trees, Bamboo to enchant even the least of horticulturists.
A stroll around the Belvedere Park directly on the shores of Lake Lugano in the spring, during the flowering period, visitors can admire the magnolias and camellias in all their fragrant beautiful splendor.
